Yes, we can assist in finding a shipper for you! This horse-drawn calliope was designed and built in the 1930’s as a combined effort between the Walt Disney Company and one of the largest prop warehouses in Hollywood. It was used as a part of the Mickey Mouse Club Circus, however, that Disney division closed down sooner than expected due to heavy competition in the circus industry at the time. The carriage continued to be used randomly for parades and special events over the years. In the early 1960’s many of the circus wagons were sold or donated; this calliope was sold to Mr. Ralph Edgewood for the El Jebel Shiners Club of Denver, Colorado – for their parades and picnics. Finally, in the mid-1970’s, the Moser family purchased the carriage to use at parties on their gentleman’s horse farm. (That’s Mr. Moser, Sr. in the photos, pulling it with his prized draft horses.) Today it is in the hands of his son, Ted Moser – Renowned Picture Car Coordinator & President of Picture Car Warehouse (our host for this auction event). Now it’s on the auction block to continue it’s history.
This unit located at the Agua Dolce, California holding lot. The vintage steam boiler was removed; for simplicity the unit now runs on a modern air-compressor. Yes, we can recommend transporters.
***Note: The long wooden ‘tongue’ sticking forward of the carriage is easily removable for transportation purposes (thus greatly shortening the overall unit length).
